About this object
Group portrait of participants in costume at the Shakespearean Pageant of Havelock North. The scene depicts a queen and her ladies in waiting on horseback, accompanied by buglers and heralds.
The two young men riding dark horses at the front of the group are identified as Ferdinand De Lisle and Harold Hyde. The boy on the white horse in the foreground is Jessie Crosse.
The pageant was organised by The Havelock Work group, and took place on 20 November 1912. Proceeds were to go towards liquidating debentures on the Village Hall.
