View of a group of men standing around a motor car taken in March 1922. Two men can be seen working on parts of the vehicle. The caption reads: The first breakdown. The photograph was possibly taken on the road between Wairoa and Waikaremoana.

The photograph is pasted into an album detailing a trip by representatives of the Napier Harbour Board and other local bodies to view public works at Waikokopu, Waikaremoana and Wairoa.
