About this object
An image of the damage to the old Nurses' Home at Napier Hospital, Hospital Hill caused as a result of the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. The front of the old Nurses home is visibly destroyed and damage to the roof and cracks in the structure are also evident. In the foreground of the image, a group of men are making coffins for victims of the earthquake. Two people seem to be surveying the damage to the front of the Nurses' Home building.
