About this object
View of the Bank of New Zealand on the corner of Emerson Street and Hasting Street, Napier. Designed by Crichton, McKay & Haughton, the building was completed in 1932 as part of the rebuild of the central city following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph is thought to have been taken soon after the completion of the building. An advertisement for Smith and Smith Limited can be seen on the side wall of the adjacent Mutual Chambers. The street is occupied by cars and pedestrians.
