About this object
An image of a refugee camp on the foreshore of Marine Parade, Napier, following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. Makeshift tents and shelters are visible on the pebbled beach in front of the old sea wall visible in the foreground. Children and other people are seen milling along Marine Parade under the shade of the Norfolk Island Pines that line the street.
