About this object
A photograph depicting the transport of victims to the hospital at the Racecourse following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. In the left foreground a victim on a striped mattress is being loaded into the back of a van by a group of men, some in uniform and some civilians. Other vans are being loaded in the background and at the right side of the image. Nurses and bedding are visible in the right foreground.
