About this object
View of Hastings Street, Napier, taken after the reconstruction of the Central Business District following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph has been taken from the Tennyson Street intersection looking towards Napier Hill. The Bryant's Building is located on the left hand side of the street. The awning advertises J H Fargher and Company Limited (draper), Bryant's (merchants), Trocadero, French Glove House and Berts. Further down the road, Ritchie's (1932), Harston's (1929), Ringland's (1932), and the Barry Brothers Building (completed 1936) are visible. Cars are visible down the street.
