Signs on the façade of the building advertise the premises of A J Williams (chemist and photograph developer), J C Chadwick (bookseller and stationer), and Cox and Boye (tailors and mercers). The buildings to the right of the Abbott Building house a Novelty Depot (glass and chinaware) and Howe Brothers (bookseller and stationer).
