About this object
Handcoloured view of Hastings Street, Napier, thought to have been taken around 1866. On the left side of the photograph stands Medical Hall, which was occupied at this time by J W Gowing (chemist, druggist). The building to the right of Medical Hall is thought to have been occupied by ironmonger Michael Boylan. Further down the street are N Williams Oil and Colour Shop (painters) and P Cosgrove (saddler). The roof of the Bank of New Zealand, which was located on the corner of Hastings Street and Browning Street, is visible on the extreme right.
