About this object
View of Emerson Street, Napier, taken following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph has been taken from the east end of the street looking west. In the foreground, workmen are digging up the road. Along the left side of the street stands the Bank of New Zealand. On the opposite side of the Hasting Street intersection, the ANZ Building is visible. Along the right hand side of the street, the National Bank of New Zealand, the Criterion Hotel, the Bowman’s Building can be seen.
