About this object
View of the Kidsons Building in Napier being constructed in the wake of the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph has been taken from the intersection of Dalton Street and Emerson Street. The Dalton Street façade is covered with scaffolding. The Briasco’s Building is visible on the right side of the photograph.
The sign boards read:

We have just finished the seismic restoration and full restoration of this building Code of Compliance from the NCC issued July 2019 The signs read as follows Right sign J CLARKE THOMSON LAND ESTATE AND INSURANCE AGENT ———————. ————————— CLIVE SQUARE Second sign on left sides BUILDING BEING ERECTED FOR THE SMITH + CHAMBERS TRUST SYNDICATE CONRTACTOR.
