About this object
View of the Central Business District, Napier, taken during the reconstruction of the city centre following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph has been taken from Napier Hill looking across the city towards Marine Parade. Tennyson Street is visible in the midground. The Criterion Hotel can be seen on the far side of Tennyson Street on the left hand side of the photograph. The building is under construction. The Post Office and the Caledonian Hotel are visible in the distance on the right side of the image.
