About this object
People are pictured cleaning up building debris along Heretaunga Street outside Land's Bag Shop, Hastings, following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. A group of men in the foreground are shovelling and piling debris, clearing the roadway near the corner of Heretaunga and King Streets. The shop signage for Lands For Bags is visible above the decimated shop. Amongst the debris, the sign for Thompson Brothers Butchers is visible.
