View of the Central Business District, Napier, taken during the reconstruction of the city centre following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931. The photograph has been taken from Napier Hill, looking towards Marine Parade. The ruins of St Paul's Church are located in the foreground. Behind the church is Tennyson Street. In the distance, the framing of a building has been erected. The framing is possibly for the Criterion Hotel.
