View of the Central Business District, Napier, taken during the reconstruction of the city centre following the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931.
The photograph has been taken from Napier Hill looking across the city towards Marine Parade. In the foreground Tennyson Street is visible. The Public Trust Office is located along Tennyson Street in the right foreground. Behind the Public Trust Office is the Briasco’s Building, E&D Building and Rice's Building which are visible along Emerson Street. In the distance the Post Office and the Caledonian Hotel are visible at the intersection of Dickens Street and Hastings Street.
