About this object
View of a shop on the corner of Hastings Street and Tennyson Street occupied by Newton and Company, grocers, the Kaiapoi Woollen Company, Bennett and Querie, tailors, and the London Dental Company. The building was damaged by fire on 19 July 1903. The photograph records some of the damage to the building. The interior has been gutted and part of the roof has collapsed. A crowd has gathered around the building. The photograph was possibly taken on 20 July 1903.
