About this object
A photograph depicting the damage done to the entrance to the Napier Breakwater and the debris at the bottom of Bluff Hill resulting from the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. Large piles of lime rock, debris and boulders are visible on the road at the base of the hill. The partially covered rail haulage lines are evident in the foreground of the image. There are people walking along the cleared path at the base of the hill and coming onto the breakwater, presumably to survey the damage.

Photographer, unknown.
