An image depicting the damage to St John's Cathedral following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. There are motor vehicles in the foreground of the image that appear to have been crushed by falling masonry. The photograph appears to have been taken from the corner of Hastings and Browning Street. The Waiapu Diocesan Office Building is visible behind the ruins of the cathedral.
