About this object
An image depicting the makeshift Tangoio District Relief Centre following the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. Two men are visible at the left of the image in front of a small shed. They are setting up a bell tent. One man kneels on the ground holding a mallet and peg for the tent. The relief centre also operated as a provisional Post Office.
