About this object
View of a Wellington garden. The garden is likely to have belonged to William and Agnes Chegwidden, whose home was located along Waripori Street in Berhampore. The photo shows the backyard of 5 Waripori Street looking into 4 Angus Avenue. The photograph appears to have been taken from an upstairs window. Further houses are visible behind the garden. Two boys pose for the photograph in the garden. They are possibly Arthur and Bill Chegwidden.

Definitely in Waripori St. The two storey house with with ground floor bay window is on the corner of Russell Tce & Angus Ave. I think this photo shows the backyard of 5 Waripori St looking into 4 Angus Ave. The high point in the distance is Mount Albert. Photo 82651 (https://collection.mtghawkesbay.com/objects/82651) shows the front of this property (first house on left in photo) & may have been taken around the same time (possibly same photographer).

My mother Elna Chynoweth Lindsay (nee Chegwidden)daughter of William Vincent was born in this house. My grandfather William was a Gallipoli veteran deafened with his involvement in the heavy artillery . He went on to serve in Europe before returning to NZ.
