About this object
View of Marine Parade, Napier, taken looking north, possibly in the late 1890s or early twentieth century. The esplanade is lined with young Norfolk Island Pines. Tree guards surround the bases of the trees. The band rotunda donated to the Borough of Napier by Neal and Close in 1894 is visible on the left side of the photograph. The Borough Council Chambers, built 1874, can be seen on the corner of Marine Parade and Herschell Street. Napier Hill is visible in the background.
