About this object
View of Napier taken from Bluff Hill looking south towards Awatoto, possibly in the 1890s or early twentieth century. The foot of Coote Road is located in the foreground. The Napier lighthouse and Napier Prison are visible on the hill above Coote Road. Young trees have been planted on the side of the hill below the prison. Part of the hill face has been quarried. Marine Parade runs away from the camera near the centre of the image. The esplanade is lined with young Norfolk Pines. Tree guards surround the bases of the trees.
