About this object
View of the library at the McLean family residence on Napier Terrace, Napier. A fireplace with a marble surround is located on the left side of the photograph. The timber mantle features two cabinets in which Māori Taonga are displayed. Further Taonga, including Taiaha, patu, and tiki, are displayed around the walls of the room. The walls are also hung with framed pictures. The pictures are all of Māori subjects, including a number of bust portraits. A photograph of a marae hangs above the fireplace. Furnishings visible in the room include upholstered chairs and a desk. A door is visible in the corner of the room. Bookshelves are located immediately above the door. Further bookshelves are located above the dado rail on the adjacent wall. A vase of flowers is located on a table in front of the fireplace.
