About this object
A photograph of a girl identified as Avis taken at St Hilda's Children's Home, Otane, between 1919 and 1920. Avis wears a blouse, tie, skirt and stockings. She stands in front of the white picket fence that surrounded the villa used as the children's home. The top of her head is cut off in the original print. The partially enclosed sun porch is visible in the background of the image.

The photograph is in an album containing images of the children who were living at the Anglican orphanage from 1919 to 1920.

The photograph is attributed to Miss Edith Waller who was Matron of St Hilda's at the time.
