About this object
Montage of nine portraits entitled: The Drowned Rescue Party circa 1897.

The montage records the appearance of nine men who set out in boats to rescue people stranded in Clive during a flood in April 1897. The party were caught in a river washout, swept out to sea and drowned. The portraits are laid out in three rows of three.
