About this object
View taken in the aftermath of the Clive Flood in April 1897.

The photograph records the damage caused to the Waitangi Railway Bridge, near Clive. The bridge has been twisted by the flood waters. The photograph has been taken from the damaged bridge looking towards the road where a horse drawn carriage is parked. Three boats are located along the side of the river waiting to ferry people across.
