Brief Description
The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art, volume 66, number 271, was published on 15 October 1915 and edited by Charles Holme. This is the first part of a new volume. The magazine contains numerous advertisements for galleries, manufacturers, art supplies and art schools, as well as illustrated articles, and exhibition and book reviews. A number of pages are missing from this magazine including two out of six colour supplements.
The Contents include: The Water-Colours of Alfred W Rich, an article by E G Halton including twelve illustrations; The Lament of the Nude, an article by Helen Grierson; Albert Toft, Sculptor, an article by Arthur Reddie including twelve illustrations; The Wood-Cuts of T Sturge Moore, an article by Alexander J Finberg including fourteen illustrations; Recent Designs in Domestic Architecture, nine illustrations and four plans; Miniatures in the Pierpont Morgan Collection III: Samuel Cooper's Lodowich Muggleton, an article by Dr George C Williamson including one illustration; Etchings of Flanders by Victor Gilsoul, an article by Achille Segard including eight illustrations; Studio-Talk, a section devoted to exhibition reviews from correspondents in London, Liverpool, Nottingham, Sunderland, Exeter, Sheffield, Dublin, Rome, St Gall and New York; Reviews and Notices; The Lay Figure: On the Artistic Inspiration of the War.
