About this object
View of the East Coast Railway Line thought to have been taken in the aftermath of the 1938 flash flood. The photograph shows the damage that was caused by the flood to one of the railway bridges, possibly over the Kopuawhara Stream near Mahia, or in the Esk Valley. In the foreground the force of the water has dislodged one of the concrete piers.
