About this object
A photographic postcard of the Dannevirke Railway Station, Hall Street (constructed 1903).

The station, demolished in 1983 consisted of two waiting rooms, a luggage and parcels office, a booking office, lobby, stationmaster's office, mail, store, porters' and lamp rooms. The Marseilles tile roof is of note. The large canopy, which remains in place, has cast-iron pillar supports. Note the brackets with an ornamental organic pattern of leaves and fronds.

At the left of the image on the road in front of the station a motor truck, and horse and buggy are visible. The steam from a departing or approaching train is visible at the extreme left of the image.
