Brief Description
(a) The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art, volume 57, number 235, was published on 15 October 1912 and edited by Charles Holme. This issue is the first part of a new volume. The magazine contains numerous advertisements for galleries, manufacturers, art supplies and art schools, as well as illustrated articles, exhibition and book reviews, and information relating to art schools. A number of pages are missing from this magazine including, it seems, all colour supplements save two.

The Contents include: A Notable Decorative Artist: George Sheringham, an article by A L Baldry including sixteen illustrations; Some Etchings from the Recent Salons in Paris, an article by E A Taylor including seven illustrations; The Art of Charles John Collings: An Appreciation, an article by Val Davis including one illustration; Edward Lanteri: Sculptor and Professor, an article by I G McAllister including six illustrations; Recent Designs in Domestic Architecture, including ten illustrations; Modern German Embroidery, an article by L Deubner including 30 illustrations; Studio-Talk, a section devoted to exhibition reviews from correspondents in London, Edinburgh, Paris, Geneva, Venice, Vienna, Berlin, Heidelberg, Weimar, Amsterdam, Chemnitz, Milan, Prague and Philadelphia; Art School Notes; Reviews and Notices; The Lay Figure: On Practical Art Teaching.
