Brief Description
(a) The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art, volume 56, number 234, was published on 14 September 1912 and edited by Charles Holme. This magazine contains numerous advertisements for galleries, manufacturers, art supplies and art schools, as well as illustrated articles, and exhibition and book reviews. A number of pages are missing from this magazine including, it seems, all colour supplements save one.

The Contents include: The Paintings of Glyn W Philpot, an article by J B Manson including six illustrations; Albert Besnard in India, an article by Henri Frantz including 9 illustrations; Fernand Maillaud: A Painter of the Old French Province of Berry, an article by Octave Uzanne including seven illustrations; Italian Art at the Venice International Exhibition, an article by Selwyn Brinton including eleven illustrations; Recent Designs in Domestic Architecture, eleven illustrations; The National Competition of Schools of Art, an article by William T Whitley including sixteen illustrations; An Embroidery Exhibition at the Musée Galliera, Paris, an article by E A Taylor including seven illustrations; Studio-Talk, a section devoted to exhibition reviews from correspondents in London, Dublin, Glasgow, Brunn, Dresden, Brussels, Toronto, Tokyo and Philadelphia; Reviews and Notices; The Lay Figure: On the Vice of Over-Production.
