Brief Description
(a) The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art, volume 55, number 227, was published on 15 February 1912 and edited by Charles Holme. This issue is the first part of a new volume. The magazine contains numerous advertisements for galleries, manufacturers, art supplies and art schools, as well as illustrated articles, exhibition and book reviews, and information relating to art schools. A number of pages are missing from this magazine including, it seems, all colour supplements.

The Contents include: Edward Stott: An Appreciation, an article by Marion Hepworth Dixon including nine illustrations; A Scottish Landscape Painter: James Cadenhead, an article by A Stodart Walker including seven illustrations; A Painter of the Sea: Eugène Boudin, an article by Henri Frantz including seven illustrations; Arts and Crafts at the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry, Vienna, an article by A S Levetus including twenty-three illustrations; Mr Spencer Pryse's Lithographs, an article by T M Wood including five illustrations; Studio-Talk, a section devoted to exhibition reviews from correspondents in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Prague and Tokyo; Art School Notes from London, Birmingham and Budapest; Reviews and Notices; The Lay Figure: On the Value of Observation.
