View of a waterwheel. A note on the back of the photograph states that the waterwheel was built by David Paton Balfour, 1841–1894, for a woolwash around 1874. The location of the waterwheel is possibly Mangawhare Station.

A waterfall is located in the foreground of the image. A building is located on the hill above the watercourse.
