The photograph appears to have been taken near the entrance to the cove. A boat is moored in the distance on the left side of the photograph.
A note on the album page reads: Assasination [sic] Cove. In the distance where Marion [Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne (1724-1772)] and boats crew massacred 12 June 1772.
