The photograph has been taken from the shoreline of the island looking inland. There is a creek in the foreground. A note on the album page reads: Moturua Island. Captain Cook obtained water at this creek 4 Dec 1769 - Marion's [Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne (1724-1772)] expedition watered here May 1772.
