About this object
A hand coloured photograph of the Mohaka River in Hawke's Bay. Part of an album of coloured scenery images. A description of the scene has been pasted onto the album page. It reads: The Mohaka River. This interesting view was taken from the top of the huge railway viaduct over the river, and shows the road traffic bridge, one span of which was carried away in the Anzac Day floods, 1938, when the water rose to 40 feet. Notice the interesting plateau formation above, from which over the centuries the river has carved its way to its present level.
