About this object
A hand coloured photograph of a rock face in the Te Urewera National Park, Hawke's Bay. Part of an album of coloured scenery images.

A description of the scene has been pasted onto the album page. It reads: Rocky Grandeur. This imposing wall of rock forms one of the arresting sights for the visitor to the Urewera Country, to the north of beautiful Lake Waikaremoana, in the North Island. Nature seems to have strewn the huge boulders about with a lavish hand and some idea of their immense size can be gained by comparison with the motor car in the picture. The lady tourist, having stopped to appreciate the impressive scene, is completely dwarfed by the immense granite barrier.
