About this object
View of W Morris Wholesale and Retail Store on the site of J J Niven's foundry on Waghorne Street in Ahuriri.

The store is housed in a two-storey structure that is clad in weatherboard. The roof is clad in shingles. William Morris' business sign was a painting of a Māori canoe, fully manned, set against a landscape setting. This can be seen on the upper balcony of the store.

Four people pose for the photograph in front of the store, one holding an axe. William Morris and his second wife Elizabeth [Peti] Paetoi stand beside the front door. A further four adults and three children pose for the photograph on the upstairs balcony. None of the other sitters are identified. Napier Hill is visible in the background.
