About this object
View of a garden taken at an unidentified location on 15 October 1905.
Among the plants that are visible in the garden are a kōwhai ngutu-kākā (kākā beak) and an arum lily. A house is located on the left side of the photograph.
A tortoiseshell cat sits on the fence in front of the house. A note on the album page reads: 'Anjou' cat. The pictured cat may be the ship's cat from the French barque, the Anjou, wrecked off the subantartic Auckland Island in February 1905.
Photographer, Russell Duncan.
