View of a food depot, possibly at Hastings Street School, taken following the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.

Following the earthquake barrels were used to distribute water around Napier. On the left side of the photograph a man in uniform bails water from a barrel. In the background, groups of people are gathered around tables and cooking apparatus.
