Aerial view of Hastings taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.
The street running away from the camera is Heretaunga Street.
Near the centre of the photograph is the intersection of Heretaunga Street and King Street. At the top right hand corner of the intersection is the site of Roach's department store, which collapsed in the earthquake. The site appears to have been cleared.
The ruins of the Cosy Theatre are located in the bottom left hand corner of the intersection.
