About this object
View of a brick building taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.

A note on the back of the photograph identifies the building as the Gisborne Harbour branch office. The firm is unspecified. A sign on the side of the building reads: Wool Store No. 2.

As a result of the earthquake, part of the brick building has collapsed. There is also damage to parts of the roof.

A crowd has gathered to look at the damaged building. Many of the people have bicycles.
