About this object
View of Napier taken from Bluff Hill looking south following the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.
In the foreground is the Summer House, which was located in the gardens of Gerhard Husheer's home on Bluff Hill. The building is on a distinct lean. To the right of the house an unidentified man sits on a park bench.
Marine Parade is visible in the distance. Among the buildings that can be seen along Marine Parade are the Municipal Baths and Dr Walter William Moore's Upoko Poito Private Hospital. Temporary structures, including tents, have been erected along the beach front.
Photographer, unknown.
