About this object
View of a Napier street taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.

In the foreground, the Manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Napier, shovels coins from a safe. He is watched by a group of attendants from the bank and two men in uniform. The photograph was possibly taken on Hastings Street in front of the bank's Napier branch, which was located on the corner of Browning Street and Hastings Street. The buildings located along the street have partially collapsed. The street is strewn with rubble.
