About this object
View of a Napier street taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.

The photograph has possibly been taken from Hastings Street looking south west down Emerson Street. A building bearing the name Blythes Limited is located along the left side of the road. Most of the brick and masonry buildings that lined the street have collapsed. The street is strewn with debris from these buildings. A pair of cast iron verandah posts remain standing in the foreground. Napier Hill is visible on the right side of the image.

Photographer, unknown.
