About this object
View of the Havelock bridge that was damaged as a result of the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3rd February 1931. The photograph is taken downstream of the bridge. The centre span of the bridge has been destroyed.
A man, who appears to be working on repairs, stands on the left bank of the stream. A pipeline, which carried water for Hastings, is supported by trestles. A temporary footbridge with a single handrail can be seen down low near the water level.
