View of Port Ahuriri, Napier, taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.

The photograph has been taken from Napier Hill looking towards the harbour. At the centre of the image, a building has completely collapsed. Smoke from the fires that broke out in Ahuriri following the earthquake can be seen billowing along the shoreline. The left foreground is dominated by a power or telegraph pole.
