About this object
View of men loading or unloading bedding supplies for temporary accommodation in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931.
On the left side of the photograph, a man in uniform loads or unloads a mattress from a motor car. On the right side of the image is a two storey structure clad in weatherboard. A doorway is located on the ground floor of the building. The words: QM Store Blankets has been written in chalk on the door frame.
In front of the building two men and a boy stand on the tray of a truck. A second motor car is parked behind the truck. A stack of bedding rests on the bonnet of the car. The photograph was possibly taken at the Napier Racecourse.
