View of Napier residents disembarking from the overseas steamer Ruapehu at Wellington on 6 February 1931.

The Ruapehu carried around 100 refugees from Napier following the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931. In the foreground, a group of people descend the gang plank of the ship. A small crowd waits at the bottom of the gang plank. People can be seen on the ship in the background.
