The photograph is taken facing the font. Behind the font there are pews on either side of the aisle with an archway over double doors. Printed along the bottom of the photograph at the front is: The Font Napier Cathedral, and the photographer's name: C Saunders.

The postcard is from the Gordon Real Photo series. On the back, the postcard stamp features a circular design with a bird in the centre and the words: New Zealand.
